A Lighthouse Park Engagement Session That Surprised Us With Sunshine

Updated: Nov 14

I’m absolutely in love with this session. The forecast called for rain, but we went ahead and scheduled it anyway. We said, “Let’s touch base before the session!” — and even with the cloudy predictions, we decided to trust the day. And this is what happened: a November morning that turned into pure magic in every single shot.

I still don’t know if it was the light, the place, the couple,

or all of it together. Instead of the expected drizzle, Lighthouse Park surprised us with the most beautiful sunshine. Warm light peeked through the trees, the ocean sparkled, and the whole park felt calm and golden. It honestly couldn’t have been more perfect.

What started as a “we’ll see what happens with the weather” kind of morning turned into one of my favourite engagement sessions this fall — proof that sometimes trusting the forecast not being accurate is the best decision.

Why Lighthouse Park Is Perfect for Engagement Photos

Lighthouse Park is one of my favourite locations in Vancouver for engagement sessions. It’s ideal for couples who love nature, adventure, and a little bit of West Coast magic. Here’s why:

  • Golden sunshine filtering through the forest

  • Towering old-growth trees with soft, natural light

  • Iconic ocean views and rocky coastlines

  • A mix of forest trails and open ocean cliffs

  • A peaceful atmosphere, especially in the mornings

Whether the weather brings sun, clouds, or something in between, the scenery always looks beautiful.

When the Forecast Says Rain but the Sun Says Otherwise

There’s something so special about sessions that defy expectations. We arrived prepared for drizzle and instead were greeted with warm sun and soft light touching every corner of the park. The colours popped, the rocks warmed up, and the whole place felt like a dream.

This couple embraced the adventure completely — exploring the trails, climbing the rocks, laughing, dancing, and enjoying the sunshine we didn’t think we’d get. Their energy, combined with the golden light, made this session truly unforgettable.

What to Wear for a Lighthouse Park Engagement Session

A few tips if you’re planning your session here:

  • Neutral or earthy tones always blend perfectly with the surroundings

  • Comfortable shoes are a must for the rocky spots

  • Soft fabrics that move with the wind photograph beautifully

  • Layers help when the temperature changes near the water

And yes — even on sunny days, always bring a jacket or hat just in case!

Let’s Capture Your West Coast Love Story

No matter the season or the forecast, Lighthouse Park is always a magical place for engagement photos. If you’re dreaming of an adventurous, natural, sunshine-filled session on the Vancouver coast, I’d love to capture your story here.

You bring the love; I’ll bring the camera — and together we’ll create something unforgettable.
